Creative Writing
The Creative Writing class has been part of the Williamstown U3A for almost twenty years. Many people have come and gone during that time but what has not changed is the special camaraderie, the unique mixture of understanding, humour and goodwill that is formed through sharing your writing with others and listening to their writing in return.
The classes mainly focus on workshopping: members read out a current item of work or a piece developed from optional ‘homework’ topics and are given friendly feedback. If there is time after these readings, a short writing exercise is set and then each person reads out his or her completed piece to the group. There is no restriction on the type of writing (fiction, non-fiction, short stories, novels, poetry) or on genre (crime, memoir, science fiction, romance, etc.).
